Stonehorse by Kaesler is a true reflection of regional diversity and blending creativity. Stonehorse wines are a collection of estate grown vineyards in the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley ranging in age from 15 to 45 years. Currently the Stonehorse portfolio consists of Chardonnay, GSM, Malbec, Touriga and Shiraz with each regional blend of hand selected parcels shining through. Stonehorse wines provide the unique opportunity for winemakers Reid Bosward and Stephen Dew to blend grapes with different characteristics that complement and enhance the qualities of each region.
White peaches and a touch of orange blossoms. There is a subtle background of brown spices nutmeg and coriander seed from oak. Full generous mouth filling flavour with fresh honey dew melon and summer stone fruits. This is supported by a citrusy acid backbone and oak influence reminiscent of pistachios nuts giving great length and persistence.
Vibrant fruits of the forest and hints of cassis & spice. Supple, elegant mouth feel. Dark fruits such as blackberry and blueberry with lighter red fruits such as red currant. Some spicy notes and oak mingle on the palate.
Crimson with purple core. Union of rich black and blue fruits, notably ripe plum, cherry and blueberry with spicy notes. Medium to full in body. Black and purple fruits hang on ribs of tannin and acid, giving the wine a beautiful structure. The wine finishes with a long sweet after taste.
The bouquet is vibrant and complex with flavours of wild strawberry, violets and a hint of spice. An elegant and restrained palate showing notes of ripe cherries and rich plums with earthy undertones. The finish is supported by delightful balanced acidity.
Pale straw with clear hues. Fresh citrus with hints of ripe nectarine. Lemons and limes with tropical undertones of lychee and stone fruit. Fresh, with taut acidity a balanced and structured palate which if carefully cellared will age gracefully.

The soils vary slightly between the two different sites, with theBarossa vineyard being clay loam over clay and the Clare Valley vineyard sandy loam over medium clay that is quite stony with areas of gravel. The soils at depth range from silty clay with decomposed rock at the bottom of the hill to weathered bluestone and slate at the top of the hill.

The Stonehorse wines are full of character like the teams of Clydesdale horses that used to work the heavy clay soil at the Kaesler vineyard, long before tractors were invented. Affordable, reliable and accessible; Stonehorse by Kaesler showcases the best of multi-regional wines, from their diverse and quality fruit resources, which produces quality and complexity vintage on vintage.
